  • Narcoleptic Rev Counter

I've used the search but the other folk were getting engine rev issues too...

My rev counter drops to zero every few minutes, then picks up again. Engine runs fine, not missing any beats at all. Does not halt progress in any way, so must be a duff connection. It's just a bit distracting to see it jump around.

Can anyone tell me where to start looking for breaks in the signal?

    3rd gen btw. Ta.

Sounds like a connection behind the clocks to me.
Easy enough to take them out & have a giggle about with the connectors while reving the engine to see what happens.
If its not broke don't fix it.

      Thread resurrection....

My rev counter does nor register anything at all !

Is the connection behind the clocks a simple one that a novice can easily spot and wiggle to check or does it require more than that ??

(The connection from the fuel pump seems ok - to my untrained eye)

      Cheers + ATVB

Then when you've had a laugh with your connectors you could maybe try jiggling them as well.

My rev counter was going crazy when I had the problem with the bad earth behind the block deck.
