  • Central locking kit.

As the title says I have bought one of those central locking kits off ebay.

Now I have had a look at various pages off the forum, but I think the best one was Apaches' about 2006 and his pics are no longer there, and before I blow fuses or melt wiring or melt the new central locking kit I just need a few things clarified.

    The Surf uses a negative pulse(trigger) to lock/unlock. ?
At the door control relay I can do all the door locks from these wires; blue/white lock and red/yellow unlock.

Permanent live feed from somewhere in the radio area of the dash.

To make the indicators flash on locking/unlocking would the easiest place to tap into the feed be from the hazard warning switch?

    Thanks in advance.

    Correct.

Red wire with white stripe and silver dots.
    Red wire with yellow stripe.

Thick white wire at the black multi-plug under the steering column is permanent 12v. The thick black/red stripe wire is a switched 12v

No, at the multi-plug thats bolted to the underside of the steering column, the green wires (IIRC) are the indicators.
    Thanks in advance.
    No worries.

I've been looking too do this but with window closure and alarm/immobiliser, now I notice some of the kits state 'not for diesel' why is this , and could you steer me in the right direction of something suitable...thanks

The 'not for diesel' bit means the remote start facility of the alarm isn't suitable for diesels due to the glowplug circuit.

Everything else in the alarm module will work OK.

Why have you removed the door card?

You make the connections at the central locking control module thats above the fusebox near the throttle pedal, it's a small black box about the size of a packet of fags!!!

I recently fitted one of these and you don't need to remove the door card. You can wire it directly into the unit that unlocks the doors, which you will find by removing the plastic panel in the right hand side of the drivers footwell and removing the speaker. Simples.

That all looks about right but you don't need to go searching for a permanent live. The door locking unit is fed by one otherwise it wouldn't work. I found the right one with a multi meter.
