arc'ing sound but only when in 4WD?!?

The other day whilst showing off my surf to may mate on his farm, i switched into 4WD and in L i pulled away only to hear and electrical arc'ing sound coming from down near my right knee!! next thing all electrics go off momentarilly followed by the engine. restarted and switched to 2WD... no probs..... any ideas?

theres a fuse box down by the right knee on drivers side. sounds like something gone tits up in there.

It could also be one of the solenoids buzzing under the wheelarch that sounds like it is inside.

Could also be the ADD relay.This is on bracket above brake pedal.There are two relays on bracket.ADD is on left and the other (brown) is for aerial.
