  • chuffing dash board!!!!

i recently discused my 4x4 function and the fact that i can hear it all clicking away etc but i did not have a dash light telling me it was on.
some nice person sugested i check the bulb!
so....yesterday was a nice day and i thought today is the day!
i got my screw driver out and started undoing screws and unclicking switches and everytime i thought i was there, i found another screw, until, at least i had them all off...apart from the fact that the corner above the heating control would not come off!!!
i stuck screwdrivers, pen knives and eventually stuck a bbq kebab skewer doen the back and it still would not come off. it took two and a half hours to discover the remaining screw hidden behind the heating control pop off facsia.
when it finally came off i could not get the whoile thing off any way due to the way the immobiliser was wired up. i was able to get to the gauges though.
upon removing that and taking some bulbs out i discovered two other lights i did noit have before A SEATBELT LIGHT AND A HANDBRAKE LIGHT. i was well chuffed about that. i always leave the handbrake on and earlier yesterday i had driven up my street and accidently pressed the brake with my left foot (i drive manuals at work). i had not put my belt on and i nearly went throught the front window. that light would have been handy.
so there was the truck in biys and i had to cycle to the garage to buy a bulb. i reassembled the whole thing and do you know what..the damn 4x4 light still does not work. BO**OCKS!

    .

Check the front of the front diff. The sender unit for the 4x4 light is a sensor connected to the front of the front diff. When the ADD collar slides into place it activates the sensor and tells you that 4x4 is engaged.

However if you have an underslung AC rad, this sender and the wire attached, gets in the way of topping up the diff oil level, maybe someone disconnected it.

    Cheers

Our 4WD light didn't work at first. I was playing around when we first got it trying to work out what the buttons and knobs did.
I saw somewhere on here that coz it ain't used much, the connections get a bit mucky and the light don't come on when you first press the button. I just sat there one day pressing 4WD on/off for a bit, the light suddenly came on..... worth a go, saves taking a kebab skewer to it as well !!!!!!
Had enough... going to live in Spain....
