Reversing light problem

I have a 2nd gen 3.0 and currently have no reversing lights. I have checked the obvious (blubs etc), all fine. The fittings in the rear light clusters are badly corroded which might be the problem. Other than that, does anyone know of any common problems with this?? Switch in the gear box perhaps??

It'll be the corrosion in the light fitting.
The switch for the reverse lights is part of the gear position switch on the transmission, nothing really to go wrong there unless you're getting gear selectionh problems as well.
