  • Water in Fuel light

Does anyone know if the water in fuel light has any other function / warning? I have changed the filter and it stays on. Having read a few other posts about this it seems that a faulty alternator can also make it come on? But I recently also changed the alternator as well! I'm inclined to unplug the sensor and ignore it, but I just wanted to check that the light is not trying to warn me of some other impending doom....

Also, does anyone know where [I] can get one of those visors that fit over the windscreen? They look really sexy....:

If no water in the fuel then probably dud sensor. All warning lights will come on because of a faulty alternator.

      Afternoon

as Nev said, if no water in the fuel filter then either dodgy sensor or wiring earthing out.

Sun visors are on e-bay, here's one but a bit pricey

I think this is the problem that I have. I am researching all over the place trying to find out what's going on with the Surf but nothing seems conclusive. I've posted a more detailed description on another thread but came across this one whilst doing a goooogle search.
My alternator was fine the other day but the batteries seem to not be getting a charge. I put this down to the fact that they were the originals and had past their shelf life. I have just found this link which refers to this particular warning light http://www.estima-motoring.co.uk/FAQ...g%20Lights.htm and it does say that if you have the water/fuel warning light AND the battery light on (like I do) then this is an alternator issue, but would this make the car run like an old dog and sound a bit on the ropey side?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as because of a hospital appointment next week I only have a very small window of opportunity to order and fit parts.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on the old girl and actually she's not running that bad at all, but it certainly sounds very different to normal.
