Green 4 wheel drive light

Hi got a bit of a puzzler green 4 w/d light comes on for about 2 seconds then goes off. But when l first turn the ignition on there is no GREEN light on in the dash, should it come on with all the other lights and go off when engine starts.

no the light should stay off unless you have engaged the 4wd system then it should stay on sounds like you have a dodgy add actuator or sensor on the diff. check the electrical connections on the diff if all thats ok you might have a trapped wire by your 4whd shifter which might be shorting out on start up.
