Either the bulb has blown or been removed, pop the dash out and take a look
My brakes dont work, so i made the horn louder.

I had this on a car (not Surf though) a while back. I checked there was a bulb fitted - there was. Checked power at printed circuit board to see if power was getting to bulb holder - there was! Put new filament in - still no warning light! When I took the dash clocks out to check closer I found the area where the globe sat was full of black silicone. A previous owner must have squirted it in to hide a fault. Why they just didn't take the bulb out, I don't know!

      Some people eh?!

The check light on ignition is to check the ECU is all fully functioning. try snd prove the light actually works, then think about another ECU.

Immobilisors sometimes work on the ECU power.

            Are the injectors getting fuel?

That GT-Four of mine had the 'check' light removed. It was hiding an intercooler pump failure code - which isn't a difficult job. I imagine it was harder to get into the instrument panel to get the bulb out!!

Are you referring to the check light (red LED) on the tacho face, or the check engine light on the far right of the dash?
The one on the dash, next to the gree Norm/Hard light isn't connected up on diesel Surfs, but there is an icon there, just no bulb.

put a different ecu in the vehicle today,
light came on and the car started straight away,
                    ECU fault,

has anyone got a 3.0 ecu for sale please,
as the one i fitted to test was from another car,
                    many thanks,
