Hi new to the forum and recently updated my Gen 2 SSRG to a Gen 3 SSRG Intercooler - good move, its a vast improvement just wish it had recaro seats! Have a problem in that the key in the drivers door lock will lock but refuses to budge in the opposite direction to unlock. Decided the easiest option would be to fit a remote locking unit - anyone help with advice on where I can locate the existing locking unit on the Gen 3 (1996). Thanks

Thanks - job done over the weekend - on mine the unit was behind the removeable cover to get access to the fuses under the dash. Now fully functioning remote locking and also a new Alpine stereo with ipod and blue tooth - happy bunny. Next task is to retro fit some better seats to replace the standard ones.

remote locking
Did you manage to fix you lock or fit remote locking to it? I have a Gen 2 and would like to fit it but have no reason to go to the expense of a cat 1 alarm and all to get it, can you buy kits and how easy is it to fit?
Cheers

Hi
It was dead easy once we located the locking module that is linked to the button on the door (beside the lecy window switches that locks and unlocks all the doors - cant remember if my Gen 2 had this or not). After this it was simple just a feed and earth - mine flashes the sidelights every time you lock/unlock. There were extra wires for all sorts of extras but I just wanted to be able to lock and unlock the doors.
Located the unit in the space under the lower dash panel so nice and neat and out of sight.
I got mine from:

Delivery was quick - ordered on Sunday night and arrived on Tuesday. Was about £21 inc postage.
Hope this helps.

dead simple, then wired the headlights into the hazard button to get the indicators to flash!

For the central locking kit all you need to do is take the lower dash off under the steering wheel.
The wire to work the indicators should be long enough to reach the hazard switch, which lush pops out.
I have a picture on my phone and the wire colours in the surf ready for when I get home.
Had everything off today to do a coolant flush and take out the rear heater rad and give that a good blowing out.
Will post the info as soon as I get home

The connector that you need is located just above the fuse box.
The 2 sets of wires you need are:
1 - BLUE / RED with Yellow Strip
2 - RED with white strip / BLUE with white strip
These 2 sets will need to be cut then spliced into the Central Locking Modules wires.
On the circuit diagram for the Central Locking Module there will be 2 sets of triggers (mine were Yellow and white) they just need to be spliced with these wires.
Hope this helps
