  • Strange headlight problem

When I put my headlights on the right one does not work at all, and the left one is on full beam. The full beam works as it is supposed to on both sides, the side lights work fine too.
I have checked the bulbs and fuses everything seems ok.
PLEASE HELP AS I AM AT A LOSS NOW WHAT TO DO NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks Frazer

check earth connections around the engine and fuse boxes, lots of stuff is earth switched on Toyotas, so if you have a missing -ve it makes odd things happen.

otherwise what happens if you unplug each buld and try them individually? A broken filament in a bulb can often hang and make a connection with the other filament and make a connection.

if you have any spot lights fitted check they are wired properly and working.

I have replaced the bulbs and know they are ok. When I get half hour to spare I will check to see if there are any dodgy earths, but I went round moving all the wires and no joy, I also fiddled with and hit the stalk where the switch is and no joy there either.
Thanks for you reply and lets hope it works.

The lamp gets its earth from the spring that holds it in. I think.
Got the same problem on my Transit

The lamps are earthed by a wire that is bolted to the inner wing.
I have undone this bolt on both sides and cleaned the areas and still have the same problem.
I spent two hours yesterday trying all sorts of things but still no joy.
Any suggestions greatly received as I am at loss what to try next.

have you checked to see if you have power going to the lamps? if so is it the same both sides? did the truck have spots fitted? if so is there a relay in line somewhere that is not playing? have you checked the main relay for the head lamps?
