  • KZN 130 Overdrive and T/C lock not working

    Help Please?

Have just picked my surf up from long-term parking (2 weeks) and the torque converter isn't locking at 54 miles/hr and the overdrive is not working. Transmission fluid level is spot on and clean.

I've read in the forums it may be the ECU - what can I do about it?

    replace the ECU...

lol, if you want to test it, you can unplug the gearbox and work it manually, you should find it in the list of similar thread at bottom or search for it.

also do the fault codes, with the O/D button pressed and count any flashes of the O/D light, it'll list any faulty solonoids.

Every time i have heard of the same symptoms its been the ecu.You need to find a breaker with a good ecu or put in eco doctor into google and have it repaired

Thanks for that, is there any info on removing the ECU, do all the wires unplug or are they screwed terminals? I don't want to disturb the loom too much, the wires look quite delicate.

          All fixed

Ok to finish this off. I removed the ECU and sent it off to the ECU doctor (Plymouth based) for testing and repair. They managed to confirm it was faulty and caused the same problems as I've described on their test rig. They replaced the processor and a couple of MOSFETs.

It's now refitted and all back to normal.

Thanks Stormforce for your advice, much appreciated
