Am I right in guessing you changed the alternator..Is it a recon alternator...

It was a second hand alternator from a good source, so not sure if i have a problem with the wirring on the truck or just been unlucky with some thing going wrong with the alternator in the postOriginally posted by Vultch View Post

isnt there a voltage regulator in the alternator, if thats kaput it could explain things.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

Obviously a short of some kind and probably toast now. Mine smoked after washing engine down once. New alternator was needed.
