Just for future reference to help anyone else with a similar problem :-
Sorted the window lowering by key problem this morning. No power on the grn/yell wire, even down under the rear body/bumper area, so had to remove rear passenger trim panel - a big one, but not too difficult. Only broke 2 clips in the freezing temps. Located the relay between side compartment and back of rear lamp unit. Disconnected the white connector just below it and looked at pin 17. It was missing & signs of green corrosion about. No sign of the wire exiting the plug either. The grn/yell wire was definitely running up into the bodywork from below, so started to carefully strip the black sheathing on the cable bunch. The grn/yell was hiding somewhere in the first inch or two. Upon closer inspection, it was evident that the pin connector had completely corroded away and the end of the wire with it.
I re-stripped the end and crimped a new wire extension approx 5" long on to the end and crimped a bullet connector pair to connect the other end to the grn/yell wire that runs to the relay on the other side of the white connector. Then visual check & sprayed inside the white connector with WD40. Reconnect white connector. Test. refit - all done. Super!
(Forgot to reconnect the HRW!! Arse.. There's always tommorrow...)
