    HF = 3MHz-30MHz (CB etc)
    VHF = 30MHz-300MHz (taxis, civil air, marine etc)
    UHF = 300MHz - 3GHz (PMR, digital comms etc)

      Hi Apache, I'll have a look at the PMR 446, cheers.
      I spoke to a guy with a CB in his landrover yesterday, he said I will get excellant reception up here, he also said that you don't need a licence for a CB anymore he thought it was dropped in (2006). He went on to say that with a good unit, Aerial and weather he has connected with peaple in Norway and Glasgow, but he has an amp installed.
      I have bidded on an Aerial and SWR meter on E-bay, the aerial is only 39" so dont know if it will be long enough. I think the Midland 98 plus is 27MHz so i guess it will be HF, the guy with the landrover said all new CB's are now Digital.

        ive just dug the rest of the my radio and scanner gear out of the cellar to see whats working.

              Sorry Charles I wasn't inferring ya don't look after ya set proper like, just that Simon (V8dieselpower) is a Wizz with CB's n the like (upgrades n Mods etc)
              Ain't used me sidebander in over 25+ years n really needs a checkover, so i'll be bringing mine up for a "onceover" look here!!
