Hey Bigbobe i dont think you have much to worry about. What you're describing is the same for my surf & she's running sweet.
Turn ignition to on (ie; radio & electrics active), Various symbols (engine,oil etc) light up on speedometer display, Crank ignition once more, engine starts & all lights go off.
Same for me.

Generally mate ...these are great trucks and they do settle down and give miles of motoring. My mechanic loves mine...he describes it as a great wagon.
When ever I bitch he says "remember the range rover - never have so many faults been attributed to so few components".

Yes. Old ('worn out') fluid will cause transmission problems.

right thats added to saturday's to do list along with changing the UJ's on prop shaft.....i have been told i have to take it out of the garage....

Is there anything on that truck you dont have an issue with why dont you go for a total rebuild then you wont have to worry about drive shafts dashboards gearboxs flower pots attached to the roof gay bull bars its just to much to list
