  • Horn packed in, could it be the relay?

    Hi All,

After doing a bit of work on the Surf and disconecting the batteries etc. I have noticed that the ###### horn has stopped working.

When it is pressed I can hear and feel the relay clunk (rather loudly), the hazards work and there are no fuses gone!

Is it possible that the relay is kaput?

I had a slight accident putting the drivers side battery back when a spanner slipped and touched the live terminal and the side of the air con motor, a few sparks and swearing etc. (made me jump!)

    Could this have done it?

    Everything else seems spot on?

    Cheers!

    Gary

Check the connections to the horn, especially if it's mounted behind the grille. You may well find that they're just oxidised or corroded.

Cheers fellas, will check the connections tomorrow!

Does a relay still "clunk" if it is knackered?
