I've just bought a Surf 1993 K reg have had new head fitted, however, Heater plugs don't work , no light showing in dash any ideas

When the ignition is on, is the dash mounted digital clock working, on mine a fuse went that took out the clock and something else that is part of the glow plug heater system (it was located in the driver footwell RHS). Also check the massive glow plug fuse under the bonnet.
also as you are about to start (preheat) watch the dash, a little yellow coil symbol lights up for a fraction of a sec (glow plug symbol)...then listen for a loud click, then start.Last edited by Vultch; 27 June 2009, 14:39.__________________

on mine the glow plug light, (little coil spring) on the left of the dash lights only for an instant as I turn the key to on, it then takes 15 seconds to "click", then its turn the key all the way and vroom vroom, away you go. If I try to start without the pre-heat its similar to yours but no black smoke just a single puff of bluish. H
