  • rear window dead

My rear electric window has stopped working both with theswitch and with the key. I assume this means the motor is dead. Could it be anything else (fuse perhpas). All other electric windows still work.

If it look sliek the motor what other diagnostics should i do before i go and source a secondhand/recondittioned/breakers yard replacement. I understand that the Hiace van window electric motor motor is the same. can anyone tell me the specific model or year

many thanks again for your help

      Hi Fergus,

Corolla, avensis, carena, all the early models
go for the N/S/R it's the same motor.
      Hope this helps.

      Gman.

EDIT: the window lock switch is'nt on is it?
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

Easiest way to check the motor is to remove it and connect to the battery direct. (maybe rig up some test leads with a fuse if you want to be really careful.)

        Other things it could be:

Relays (many people have had them go)

The cable between the tailgate and the rear quarter. (mines playing up there right now) - many reports of broken wires in that bit of cabling.
