intermittent speedo Hi

Im new to the forum and have just purchased a 1995 3.00 surf. Love it to bits already. I have one problem through,the speedo works sometimes and not others.When it stops,the milometer stops as well. Any ideas?
Think the forum is great by the way.

Loose wire/connector I suspect, couldn't tell you which one though, my temp one has started doing the same for a split second now and then, I'm more worried about this than clocking up the mileage though. H

After looking at the forum,i now realise im not alone with my speedo problem.How easy is it to remove the instruments to have a look behind them? The speedo has been coverted to MPH.

As yours is a 1995 the speedo will be electronic so instead of a drive cable the speedo's 'signal wire' will be incorporated into one of the multiplugs on the back, so just tilt the binacle towards you and and unplug the four connectors. They are shaped so that they can't be re-connected into the incorrect sockets on re-assembly.
Also, there are two speed sensors on the transfer case (driver's side) that send info to the speedo and ECU. The sensor closest to the rear propshaft is the speedo sensor.

Thanks for the replies,but the speedo seems to be working again at the moment,so i think i will leave it until it plays up again.
