I was thinking of fitting some white led sidelght bulbs, as my 92's sidelights are quite dim. Has anyone done this? Are the led's a lot brighter than standard bulbs?

Don't recall anyone doing this, if you do it let us know the outcome pics etc.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.
I have a set of Philips vision plus bulbs in the headlights on mine. And when you buy a set you get a free set of 5W sidelight bulbs. They have a blue coating and they give out really strong pure white light. They match the crystal white light of the headlights perfectly. I also wired a set of LED sidelight bulbs into the indicator housing. But the LED's give a blueish light even though they are white ones! I'll get a pic tonight...
Both mu sidelights and headlights are pretty poor. I;m looking at changing to brighter bulbs.
All the coppers cars over here have extra bright bulbs even though they are illegal. It does mean they stand out when trying to sneak up behind you though!

Great, thanks. Another option I considered was to put reversing light bulbs in the sidelights. They look the same fitting, but are 19w instead of 5, any thoughts on this?

Pete.
It's not legal, I think that 5w is the maximum allowed under construction and use regulations.
Toyota wiring is renowned for being well put together but under spec'd cuasing fairly large losses in the wire. There are some custom wiring looms available however for the sidelights I would recommend as a first thing to run a new earth lead from the light direct to earth rather than via the loom.

I fitted a towbar on the weekend, was quite surprised as to how beefy the wiring was going to the RHS lights.
Also, get this, under the carpet at the RHS rear there is a plastic blanking plate which when you take it off there is a hole straight through the body. I used this to run the tow bar electrics through. Whoever had fitted the fog light for SVA had drilled a hole right through the body NEXT to this cover. What a dummy.
