  • Changed Battery and No Ignition..Help Required!!!

Hi I have a 93 Hilux Surf. I removed the battery and repplaced with a new one. I have tried to start the car and have found that there is no ignition. Everything else still works, lights etc just nothing on the dash.

    Battery was connected correctly also.

Any help would be much apprieciated. Thanks!!!

Could you have left a wire off that feeds an immobiliser? It's easily done, or even connected the immobiliser to the -ve side instead of the +ve. Shouldn't have done it any harm, but it won't be able to operate the relay that disables it.

Me too! someone suggested that i try 'Tricking' the immobiliser ''That should do it!'' well how you supposed to do that then? anyone know?
Anyone know of a wiring diagram for this model,1996, 3.0 turbo diesel, manual, maybe some answers there?
I'm startin to get desperate now! I went to Halfords for a workshop manual today an they seem to think me trucks come from the planet Zonk or somewhere. They just aint got a clue in there.

i think perhaps you should call on a good local auto sparx who will come out and sort it. Its worth the £80.00 or so.

Hi Charvell. thanks for your advice although I ain't given up so easily, not just yet anyway, tempary lack of funds dictates that I must soldier on regardless! My next plan is to return to my local, friendly, Toyota dealer and get a bit more 'customer support' from them. After all they probally got a kings ransome for the truck in 1996 when they sold it new! I might aswell ask cus you never know do you. Thanks again and anyone else with any other information ref rectifying this problem would be greatfully recieved.

Sneak up from behind and start it suddenly?

Where abouts are you? The Toyota dealer being local would suggest somewhere near Blackpole? I'm in Malvern. If you're not far away I can lend some support...

Cheers for offer Apache. I'm just down road from Toyota at Blackpole so will go in before end of week. I bin given a lead of an Auto Sparx in worcester so might give that one a try. If still no joy I may give you a shout afta see how it goes, or don't, whatever case maybe!!!
                          Best Regards. Olly.

it sounds like everyone has got battery gremlins this week,

does anybody know why i've lost my battery light, the water trap light and the t-belt light, are they all connected somewhere, on the earth side maybe?? mines been playing up for 2 weeks now, i'm pretty sure its the voltage regulator on the alternator but i went out for a drive in it earlier and iif i let the revs drop below about 2500rpm the headlights go dim, the dash lights go out and the radio switch''s itself off, also the batttery meter drops below half, but if you rev it up to over 3000 the meter goes up to 3/4 and everything comes back on

sorry for the long post but its driving me mad

                            chris

could be a loose connection, either a loose earth somewhere, or a loose connection on the alternator?
