OD Switch/Computer problem

When I switch out of OD with the car in neutral, the OD light on the dash is bright, with the car in gear, the light is dim, with the lights on, it's dimmer still.

Any ideas what this could be?

Also, is the OD controlled by a computer? If it is, where is it?

Anything to do with the auto transmission is controlled by the ECU.

Nope, hadn't seen that before; thanks.

Not been out to look yet, but the last time I tried to get anything from the 'W' terminal I was convinced there wasn't anything in there, just a wee hole. I'll look see if I can work out what wire should go in there, then see if I have the same wire on my socket.
