Towbar cable routing?

My towbar is running off a wandering lead which just gets shut in the tailgate which works Ok.
I've just added an auxillary socket though which has far heavier wiring and its getting pinched in the tailgate and crushing the cable.

I have a cunning plan to mount the sockets permanently on the bumper so they won't be at risk when off-roading but is there an easy route for the cables from inside the boot to the outside? as I don't really want to drill one if its avoidable.

Lift the carpet in the boot, there are some bungs/grommets you can adapt to let a lead through - you may well find the fog light wiring going through one.
