  • central locking

just bought a (ebay special) keyless entry and i'm going to try and fit it this weekend. not sure of the model? all the box says is "TIGER" i have looked at loads of cental locking threads but still a little unsure if i need extra relays. there are a few diagrams on the instuctions. Negative Trigger, Positive Trigger and Pos/neg trigger. am i right in thinking if i use the negative trigger diagram i will not require extra relays? has anyone fitted one. where is the best place to patch the wires. please help before i waste my wages on fuses and plasters.

    The Surf is negative trigger.
Behind the front speaker, above the fuse box on the driver's side, there's a black box, roughly 4"X3", this is the central locking control module. pull out the multiplug and you're looking for a red wire with a yellow stripe, and a red wire with a white stripe. These are the two wires you splice into for lock/unlock from your new keyless module.

If you have a 'lights flash' option, where the indicators flash when locking/unlocking, the best place to splice into the indicator wires is behind the steering column shroud at the multiplug. They're green wires if I remember correctly, but check with a multimeter anyway.

      Hi mate
I've just done this myself. The relays are needed but its an easy job.

Personally I spliced into the wiring beneath the drivers seat (and passenger seat for the N/S indicators - just my choice). I picked beneath the seat because the unit fit neatly under there instead of trying to crowbar it in alongside the phone kit, immobiliser, etc, etc.

Whlst I was there I also found the permanent 12V (black and white) and a pucker earth (can't remember colour), so all my connections were easy soldering. Perm 12V is blue/yellow. Earth is black/white

The lock/unlock wires are red/white and red/yellow (can't remember which way but a quick play with multimeter shows which). The indicators are green/yellow stripe (off side) and green/black stripe (near side - under passenger seat). Red/yellow is unlock. Red/white is lock.

I also got the flick knife type remote but the supplied blanks (only ones they had) weren't right so I also had a play with a file, soldering torch and small self-tapper to adapt a standard key to ft on the flick out bit.

      Hope your goes OK.
