Have you disconnected both batteries for 30 mins, or pulled and replaced the ECD relay to reset the ECU?

cheers mate,i'll keep that in mind,i cleaned and tidyed the wires to the speed sensor on gearbox this eve,so will see how it drives in morn.i have been told that only parts from another manual will work as well!!also climbed on top of lump to make sure hose's all still ok,will look at pump wires tomorrow.

maxwell, I feel you're pain but mine hasn't cost me anything like that...
Open circuit on 2 circuits I would suggest a dodgy earth is the most likely cause but I would be checking the wiring between the sensors and the ecu, relatively easy to do with a multimeter...
down load the workshop manual and look at the diagnostics section, the flow chart works pretty well actually, shame you're so far from me as I've gotten pretty good at under bonnet testing on the 3.0Toot! Toot!
