  • OW NO..Rear window relay clicking

Hi guys. Can you please advise. I suspect my rear window relay of being faulty. The window will go up but wont come down. I posted a few days ago and with the help i got I've ruled out a lot of other causes. I can get the window to come down(by direct 12v to the motor) but when I try to use the key to get it down, i just hear the relay clicking is this a way to tell if its faulty????(the clicking noise i mean). I see on other posts that people have made there own window relay by combining 4 smaller relays. Is this my best route to take? As I am no way spending the £380 or so that Toyota want.

You might try and swap some of the relays around on the PCB, I did this when I had trouble getting my window to go up, and it worked and is still working.
Ive only done this as a temp measure while I wait for Maplins Electronics to send some new one's. Order them from http://www.maplin.co.uk item code "JM67X 12V/12A Min Relay" Price for 4 relays inc p&p was £6.46, alot cheaper than buying a whole new board from Toyota!!

We had the same prob with ours. If the switch in the cab works try the key switch on the rear door. Ours was opening by itself, not closing off the key switch and all sorts. I thought I had a broken cable as you could hear clicking from the relays when you move the door. Turned out ot be wet inside the key switch. If you can remove the switch and give it a good clean and blow out.

It fairly easy to remove just take off the rear door covers and with the door open and window in the up position (be careful to fully support glass otherwise i'll break) the switch is accessable and easy to remove. There are a couple of plastic clip and a elect connector but then it should be out.

If its not that I'd go with the Maplins relay replacement cause £380....wow!!!!

      good luck
