  • Yet Another Rear window prob (new one I think)

Hey all I have spent quite a but of time reading up on past posts about rear window problems, but I think mine is a tad different.

The window will always go up without any problems, everything is nicely greased and happy inside the tailgate.

The window will usually come down but not always. I will use it 2 or 3 times and then it won't come down. No matter what I do I can't get it to come down unless I manually apply power to the motor. I have tried another Relay box which made no difference. But I park it for the night and the next day it works fine.

The Relays are clicking, I have checked both the key switch and the switch inside the cab they are both working fine.

But when the window doesn't come down it is not getting any voltage at all to the motor. So I checked the continuity between the motor and the Relay box and it was fine. I can only come to 2 conclusions. Either the second relay box I got from the Auto Wreckers has the exact same problem (which is unlikely) Or the power that is running to the Relay box is intermittent. But that would mean there is a Seperate wire bringing power for each Relay, so the Up relay is running off one power source, and then the Down relay is running off another, which would be pretty strange setup but who knows. Anyways any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks. Lee.

NEVERMIND!!!! I kept on reading back farther and farther Thank you admins for keeping forum posts from so far back and I found someone who had the same problem and it was the god damn rear wiper that was not seated correctly so the window would not come down thinking the rear wiper was running GAAAHHH!!!!!

At least I have a spare Relay box now

Don't let it happen to you lol. check your wiper

There could be a break in the wires between the tailgate and the body, or the rear wiper isn't 'parked' properly. Could also be, as you say a faulty replacement relay module.
The four relays in the module are easily replaceable, try swapping them around.
