rear window mystery

I have had all my rear tailgate apart cleaned and lubed mechanism had motor out and goes round ok but when back together motor just makes whirring noise and window will neither go up nor down.Do you think the motor needs replacing as when under load ie trying to move window has'nt got enough power any help will be much appreciated.

Are you sure the motor gears are meshing OK with the regulator?

the gear is held on to the motor by a circlip remove said clip then remove the gear check the drive between the motor and the gear
