Back door lock

Hi all

One last question before I go to Tenerife...

Should the back door lock work in conjunction with the rear window on a second generation surf? If it should, what's the most likely cause of it not working properly?

If you mean, does it lock automatically when you raise the window, yes it should. If yours isn't it's probably something to do with the connection between the two but, never having taken mine apart to look, I'm afraid I can't help with the specifics. Try a PM to Bushwacker as he usually has all the answers.

There's a metal bar that connects the lock to the window mechanism. As the window gets near the top the mechanism moves an arm which then locks the window. I think I've got a pic of it, if so will post it when I find it.

I've disconnected mine as the extra resistance was enough to stop the window going all the way up.
