Rear window woes

At the moment, sometimes my rear window goes down, sometimes it doesn't.

When it decides not to work, if I switch it a few dozen times, it will eventually go down. The relays always click, the window lock button is not pressed and it always goes up.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Does it only have problems from the switch inside the cab, or is it also when using the key in the back door?

If it's only from the switch, then you may have a bad contact in the switch circuit, or the relay box is going dodgy.

If it's both the switch and key, then the motor may be on the way out. You can maybe help it out a bit by applying some (I think it's) silicone grease to the rubbers around the window. Otherwise you probably need a new motor.

I don't think it's the motor, it looks like the voltage isn't being reversed to make the motor go down. I cut the wires and wired the motor up 'the wrong way round' and it worked fine. So it looks like the relays could be at fault? Anyone know where they are.

The relays are in a little pod behind the left panel in the boot.

If it is the relays, they can be replaced with one's from Maplin's.
