CD player problems

have probelms with CD player on my 2nd gen 4 runner

the unit is a top radio cassette then an aux CD beneath but looks like one unit.

The CD will only play the odd CD and even then ejects it everytime the ignition is switched on and off


can these be fixed or would I be better off replacing with an aftermarket one which leads me to the question:

How do you get the old unit out?

With it being a big double unit will i need to construct a blank plate. What have others done.

Do they have universal plug connectors?

Does anyone have a larger straight swap 3rd Gen sound system for sale. some of the later models seem to have nice units fitted.

If you fit a single DIN radio, you can get blanking plates or cubby hole thingies that fit under the radio from Halfords.
