turbo help needed

hey guys
just reading about turbo,s ect ect and come across a thread that shows a black knob, on the back of the switch assembly,
now some one has said its a vsv filter,
ive had a quick gander at mine and its not there just a pipe sticking out?!?!?
my question to you guys is.....
is it improtant?? (i do have loss of power goin up hills, thats why i was reading the thread)
where can i get a new one from??
is there a knack of fitting em ?? (just looks like you push it on)

Yep it's a filter. It just keeps dust etc out of the VSV. You can just use a small fuel filter stuffed with cotton wool and connect with a bit of hose. Just mount the filter somewhere close.
