  • Sorry, fog light again

    Hi.

I've acquired a flush mounting fog light with an all metal casing. Inside the casing, attached to the light bulb holder is a connector for one wire. Question is, which wire? I have 2 wires going to the old fog light 1 x black and 1 red. Does anyone know which wire goes to the connector and where the other would go? Although it is brand new, I have a feeling it is an old fog light and it came with it's own fittings inc a red wire, so would I be right in thinking it would be earthed to the bodywork by the metal casing.

    Thanks in advance.

there is usually an earth on the light casing itself for the earth wire to connect to

Unless someone has done a strange wiring code then the red one goes to the lamp the other to the casing. It's generally switched on the live side so the wire from the switch is live and red and goes to the red on the lamp. The other wire you will probably find is just strapped to eart somewhere close (mine was connected to a screw in the bodywork up underneath the bumper.

      Cheers

Don't know where Tazman got his from, but I got two off the back of a 1991 Honda Integra at the scrapyard (£10 for both). Took the angle grinder to the rear bumper and fitted them in - job done.

You can buy them new from garages - go for pretty much any of the Jap cars from the early '90s which had add on bumper mounted fog lamps - particularly look at Hondas. Plus the Daewoo models for the UK have them and the Toyota Celica (new shape). You can get these new from the dealers.

          Cheers

I got it for £4.20p all in. He had 3 on ebay and they all went quickly priced between £4 -£6. I'm waiting for a reply from him to see if he has or can get anymore.. I'll keep you posted Linda.
I've just bought another one similar, but with a clear lens.
