i'm wondering what the plug on top of the fuel pump actually does, anyone know? while stripping the bay out i noticed the white wire on this plug was nearly worn through, held together by a couple of strands,

Has this emporium of knowlage dried up, is the cupboard bare, i want to know about this plug even more now i thought that maybe it was the reason why the truck was so sluggish being nearly worn through,

If it's the one I think you are talking about it will be for the speed sensor. I'll have a look later.

Thanks Nev, would that account for the truck running sluggish? it was only joined together by a couple of strands, repaired now tho, but trucks off the road foe at least another month so wont know, Ian

Can't say for sure. It may still work even with most of the wire broken. If not then it certainly would make a difference if the ECU did not receive the correct speed related signals. Let us know if it has improved when you are back on the road.

Will do Nev it's going to be difficult to know for sure as i've done several other things while it been off the road, such as intercooler, washers behind the waste gate, removed the egr compleatly (except the electrics) and if i'm lucky a bigger exhaust, so it'd better go a bit better than it did or it's gonna get a good slap with a tree branch i'd say there were three strands still connected and covered in oil and grime, so mirical it workd at all,
