  • Key operation of rear window

My rear window was working fine for over a year after I gave it a good service.
Now for some reason it will operate with the interior switch in both directions but will not go down with the key from outside.
It will go back up though.

    Any ideas?

        On a serious note.

Check the wires & connector block inside the door.

Having replaced the motor in mine the rear switch was working fine but has since stopped. Just before it stopped the window caught something on it's way down, I heard the "clunk". Haven't checked it yet but reckon it's pulled the connector apart.

The switch is very basic, and could be fixed easily, if anything it just needs a clean.

Mine was the same, worked for ages then wouldn,t wind down on the key,
WD 40 in the lock now its fine.

Cheers lads, I'll try the easy fix (hopefully) with the WD40 first then open it up to investigate. My rear demister has never worked and I'm supecting wiring damage as connectors have been tested and no voltage is present.
I think the way the loom is routed is a wee design flaw that seems to be susceptible to damage.

It's not an essential fix, getting the key to work winding down window, but it's one of those annoying things I'd like to put right.
A lot of our Surfs are getting on in years and I suppose it's not surprising to start getting wee faults like this.

Re the rear window demister not working, on mine the connectors had corroded off the ends of the wires!

For fixing the rear windows you might need one of these! http://www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/forums/sh...60&postcount=4 special tool very useful!!!

Not fixed yet, another thing on the list of to-do's
