Flashing 4x4 Dash lights?

I have recently got a 97 SSRG 3.0. The 4 wheel drive indicator on the dash flashs intermitently when i press 4WD button on the lever while driving or when standing with AT lever at D. Even when the transfer lever it is full forward position H2. Does any one have any ideas why this might be happening? It is lit constantly when 4WD button is pressed while AT lever at P.

mine is the same - N or P and it wont flash or beep at me.

Mine does the same until the 4WD has engaged, then all is fine,

Mine did that when i 1st got it, The 4wd had not been used for some time.
