  • Amplifier Wiring Kits - assistance required.

I am fitting my JBL GTO 2000 amp this afternoon and need to know how to connect it to the power supply (i.e. the battery). Which battery should I use (left or right - does it matter?) and how do I get the wire from the battery back into the car and under the carpets etc? Is there a rubber bush or stopper I have to pull out to access the footwell or something?

Any advice at all on fitting it would be most appreciated. I don't wanna pay someone to do it for me if I don't have to.

How do I bridge channels to power my Fusion 400 watt sub woofer speaker?

Doesn't really matter which battery, but I would use the passenger side as the cable will be away from where most of the engine heat is.
You can poke the cable through one of the rubber grommets in the bulkhead to get the cable into the cab.
Don't forget the fuse, as near to the battery as posible.

The grommets are already there, you just need to put the wires through one of them. Have a look on the bulkhead and you will find one.

I am rubbish at car (indeed most) electrics so will leave that advice to someone else, but disconnect both of your batteries before you start messing with anything electrical. There is an awful lot of juice in them.

In that case I would very seriously consider getting someone to do the work for you and perhaps show you how they did it.

Alternatively, a Haynes or similar manual will have a safety section on electrics that you would be well advised to read before starting.

                  Notwithstanding any of that:

I'd agree with Sancho. No personal slur intended, but if you are that unsure of the basics with regards to the electric side of things, you may well be connecting a fire waiting to happen. Don't take the risk.

I now know how to remove the battery by the way. Mechanic showed me. Just loosen bolts on negative input to battery and lift off connector?

I also know how / where to thread the wire through to the footwell through the rubber thingiemebob.

Determined to do this myself as I am 30 and need to learn stuff.

                          Any other tips?

Just do what it says in the link here, like before.

If you've got two batteries, disconnect them both.
