  • '85 hilux electrical fault

    tuesday i collected my new toy...running ok
    wednesday batts (twin setup)go flat trying to start it (
    thursday replaced drivers side batt started ok....but problems !! T-BELT FILTER-LIGHT AND BATT LIGHT on dash refuse to go out (was o.k. when i collected it )

    friday...mot time...failed ! NO MAIN BEAM OR FLASH (BLUE LIGHT ON DASH WORKS)

    saturday....replaced main/dip module under dash...checked all fuses stalk-switch etc.....only got dip.....BUT FLASH WORKS WHEN LIGHTS ARE OFF!!

    any of you guys have ideas or clues?

    The dash lights always on indicates an alternator problem.
    High beam problems is normally dirty or burnt contacts in the stalk switch.

      These light normally light up when you have an alternator problem. Along with the other problems i'd say you have a dodgy earth connection somewhere, or put the new battery on backwards at first and fried something.

        deffo not put the batt on the wrong way

        just noticed 2 relays under the bonnet, both the same numbers etc so swapped them round....still the same...CLICKING O.K.
