Remote central locking

I am told my 3rd gen SSR-g has remote central locking, but I only got an ordinary key when I bought it. Is it possible to get the remote locking keys in the UK and if so where from?. I have a contact in Japan but was going to use that as last resort.

Have a look under the drivers seat to see if you have the black box.

Can not see a black box but there is something white and box like under the carpet. Also a strange cirular contraption that looks like a fan.
Any idea's

The fan and bits under the carpet are the air con fan,but beside that should be a black box nearer the drivers door,that is the control unit for the central locking.

No black box. Does this mean no central locking. Is it possible to retrofit? What would I need?

I've just had a Cobra CAT1 installed that has remote central locking.
£250, bargain.

Remote Locking/Unlocking

Hi,

i have a 3rd Gen Surf, i got the original key, but when i press the buttons on the key nothing seems to happen, there is a black box under the driver seat and i have no idea what to do with it...

can i get a lead on how to start troubleshooting the problem?

OK boyz, i don't have a central locking key, but I do have the black box. What info do i need to give Toyota for a new key/fob?
If I find out, i'll let you know!
I think I might be fitting an aftermarket one at this rate.

Toyota UK can't supply the key fobs to activate the central locking system as Toyota Japan won't supply the software to programme the fob.
Aftermarket is the only way to go - and a damn sight cheaper.

Keith is right, its the one thing you can't get for an import from Toyota.

The ebay centrol locking kits are the simplest way to go, and probably cheaper than if you could get the info and it programmed at Toyota anyway.

Just wire up the remote kit to the door lock button, and you're done.
