Can anyone please tell me the charging voltage of a 3rd gen surf knz 185.
I have a feeling I may have a lazy alternator.

    Battery at rest 12.6 Volts
    Battery at tickover 13.7 volts
Battery at 2000 rpm 13.7 volts [ this i feel is a little low ]
Battery at tick over with lights on and blowers on high 13.6 Volts.

I would have expected it to be 14 volts plus at 2000 rpm.

    Any advice welcome.

Have you got the 1KZ-TE engine manual (pdf format) from the link on this page?
There's a section with figures and stuff about testing the alternator in it, might be worth looking at.

    Hope this helps

13.6V IS A GOOD CHARGING RATE. aNYTHING OVER 14.1V COULD MEAN THAT YOUR RECTIFING DIODES ARE BREAKING DOWN AN ALLOWING ROUGH DC VOLTAGE TO GO TO YOUR BATTERY. 13.6V IS WHAT MY SSR-G CHARGES AT.

That looks about normal. 13.8V is about the max voltage you should see.
        It's only a hobby!

Thanks guys, put a new battery on last weekend and all seems well now.
I think I was being a little paranoid.
          Cheers
