Wire for Speedo

I hope someone can help. One of the 3 speedo wires coming out of the back of my gearbox appears to be be breaking up. I have continuity to the dash with 12 volts to it but i am not getting a pulse at the dash from the transponder. (I have a pulse coming out of the transponder).
Is this a common problem? (if so where is the break likely to be). Or does anyone have a wiring diagram that covers this area.
