    Got in the surf this morning, put headlights on and BOTH went pop! - too much of a coincidence to be both bulbs and as they are a pain in the a** to get to i checked the fuses first and sure enough both had blown - any ideas why ?

    Could be coincidence, BUT I would be checking the voltage at the batteries as you may have regulator problems in the alternator and that could be disasterous for the main ecu or even your radio and any other electronic equipment.
    I would stick a voltmeter across the battery and start the engine, but do not rev it, just increase the revs slowly and if the volts go much above 15/16 volts switch off and get the alternator checked.
    Laugh!!! I nearly bought my own beer.

        The batteries are wired in parallel, so you only need to do the test on one battery..
        It just does, OK?
