Mystery Switch !

Hi all,

Ok, lets get the Newbie jokes over... ok, Im a sprog!

Ive just bought a Hilux Surf Jap import, sitting on a K Reg plate.

Figured it all out, all bar 1 thing... A Mystery Switch!

Its not in the user manual, its not on the net, and the guy I bought it off is 6ft under, so Im stumped.

(This is a RHD vehicle) The switch is a round switch, with a simple on / off position, it has a led to show when its on. Its positioned on the right of the console, just underneath the Idle up / down switch (The thing that makes the engine rev more)

If you switch it on, with the engine off, it does nothng, even when you start the engine it does nothing. If you switch it on, after the engine has started, again nothing, but take her up to about 50 Mph, and then switch it on, and the Led lights up ! How cool is that,- but what on earth does it do?

Any suggestions, comments, most welcomed, Ive lost the reason with it, and am close to ripping the dash out to find where the cables lead to. Probably just to the spedo, Ive no idea.

have you got front and rear fogs on your surf by any chance

No, just rear fogs. The front is quite bland and naked with just the standard lights!

didnt some of the surfs have a buzzer when you hit 50mph? maybe someones re wired this to an led version!!??any pictures of the offending item?

You're in good company then. Are you really sure it's not for the rear fog
light?

yep thats exactly the same switch /location as my rear fog lights!! do your r fogs work ok? do you have another switch for the rear fogs?
