  • Is it possible to have remote locking on 94 SSR-g

Does any one know if it is possible to have remote central locking on the 94 SSR-g. If so, how easy is it, what bits would I need and where will I get them.

Dunno how helpful this will be, but I've got a '92 SSR-G which I had fitted with a CAT-1 Thatcham alarm (made by Toad). This was fitted by a local auto-electrician/alarm specialist, and includes remote arm/remote lock/unlock.

I think that provided you've got electronically activated central locking already (which mine did so I assume yours has too), you can get an remote alarm to do the job. I had to get a minimum of a CAT-2 immobiliser fitted for insurance, so shelled out a little extra to go for the CAT-1 with remote C/locking (£300 including fitting but you can probably find cheaper if you ask around more - I was in a hurry!).

Even if it hasn't got remote central locking you can still get it done, you just need an additional motor for the central locking system, so as long as the alarm has the facility for remote locking its possible, have had it done many times.

All I wanted was the remote locking, so bought a cheapo £30 alarm with that function off ebay !!

Half a day and some wiring, Job Done !

Cobra alarms do remote central locking system. It is there as an add on for people with cat 2 inobs. I cant see any reason why you cant get it fitted on its own. But the cheaper option is the cheap alarm route i would think.

I got the Cobra system on mine, no alarm but that can be connected to it as an option, also an optional box to shut all the windows an dthe sunroof as well. Works well for over a year and cost £80.

                  Cheers

Yeah mines the cobra alarm immobiliser, and its great, the remote central locking works a treat.

I got my unit as a standalone without the immobiliser. You need to make sure that any unit you get supports earth switching rather than positive switching. The Cobra Unit does both selected with a dip switch.

                      Cheers
