  • Rear speakers not working

Just got my new surf 2.4td and enjoying it apart from the fact that the rear speakers are not working. Its got a UK kenwood head unit (fitted by me using the appropriate adapter. The rear speakers were not working before and are still not working. I've checked all the normal connections, but before I go about ripping the interior panels off and replacing the speakers, can anyone suggest anything else to check?

    regards
    James

Rear speakers work on the principle that the aerial supplies a power feed to their amplifies when it is up only. Had this problem the other month, when radio was on...no problem, all worked fine, as soon as i put CD on and aerial came down..only front ones worked. As rear speakers have their own amplifiers, you have to bypass aerial to maintain the power to operate the speakers.
There are loads of technical answers to this if you do a search on this forum which will expain better, and these guys speak in english aswell, so anyone can understand what they are on about without it going over you head.
    Good luck.
Is it supposed to sound like this??

TA will do it, but it'll send the aerial up too.

If you have a look here wires H and I are connected to the same pin on most ISO connectors, one of which (can't remember off the top of my head) can be connected to your amp remote lead on the head unit so that the amps for the rear speakers come on all the time, even if the aerial is down.
