I suggest you check for fault codes rather than play with the sensor.My red light has never come on yet and the red light usually means the ECU has detected a fault.

If the warning light comes on it can mean that the turbo is on overboost (over 11psi). The Pressure sensor could be duff or the wastgate isn't working - or it may have been modified to increase boost pressure.
Birdy - have you modified the Wastgate or put an adjustable controller in or is it just a fault?.
As Neville says, if it is a fault then you need to check the fault codes first, if it is as a result of a mod then you may need to get sensor adjusted or the ECU reprogrammed or jsut live with the light coming on.

Did you adjust the waste gate with the washers behind the mounting bracket?The red light will stop coming on eventually at about the same time the engine goes bang.I'm no expert but from the research I have done on the Surfs this is what I have learned.

I've just done that washer mod to see what the difference is but only used 2 x 1mm washers (I'm being conservative with my mods) and while it makes a bit of difference to the mid range, it isn't enough to bother and as I don't intend to go the whole hog with the 5mm of washers as I don't know the condition of the bottom end, I'm putting it back to standard.
I certainly wouldn't want to put 14psi of boost through an unknown bottom end. I would expect to have to have the bottom end rebuilt, performance pistons and maybe the Main bearings cross strapped.
Mind you with an intercooler, the main reason I would think for putting the pressure up is to get back the original boost level at the intake as I would think that the intercooler itself introduces restrictions and reduces the effective boost pressure at the intake so It's probably only putting 9 or 10PSI into the engine.
I am pretty sure that Neville's correct that the ECU can't be reprogrammed to accept over 12psi and actually brings the warning lamp on at 11psi.
The only thing I can think is to move the pressure sensor if you can find it from the turbo side to the intake side of the Intercooler. This might help and will actually be more accurate at sensing the rear turbo boost.
Even with a guage it should always be as near to the intake point as possible so that it reflects the accurate boost level actually entering the engine and doesn't over-read.
