  • Vin Number Loation

Need to order 4 new glow plugs, but my local Toyota dealership needs the VIN number, on the firewall is a plate, but that has the model number, frame and engine type, so does anybdy know where the location of the VIN number is? Then they can order me the correct plugs.
    thanks

It's on the Vin plate on the bulkhead under the bonnet , also stamped on the chassis just behind the offside front wheel .

There isn't a VIN number as such. You need the model number and the frame number - the dealer can identify the vehicle from these.

Japanese motors don't have a VIN number as such, just a model and chassis number - has less numbers than the equivilent UK car. The number is both on the plate on the bulkhead and also on the chassis rail under the front offside wheelarch.

              Cheers

Well it took some time, but my local Totota dealer eventually came up with part number 19850-67030, priced at £38.33 each!! I asked about fitting they wanted £57 per hour and said it would take two hours, so all in it would have been £314! Luckily I work in a dock and have access to motor dealers, so more rining around got me GKN plugs at £6.00 each, and because I cant be bothered to fit them myself our fork truck fitter will supply and fit all for £60!! Not woth the hassle of doing them myself. But there could be two types of plug which will fit, so he has to get one out first and match it up. I think the Toyota originals must be made of gold!?

makes me worry that they need the VIN for something so simple!... wouldn't the engine type tell them that??

i went into vauxhall with a broken door lock with the key number and key, they wanted the VIN for that!... i just gave him my special look and he went and got one without looking on his computer!

(and it wasn't fluttering my eyelashes either!)
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!
