  • Air Con Relay

Well, its warm again and the air con is out.

Is there a relay for the switch somewhere behind the dash?.

Thats my chief suspect as it made some odd noises before it packed up.

    Any ideas anyone???

If i remember rightly there's a couple of relays behind the glovebox. I can't remember what they're for, but there's a post on here somewhere try searching 'relays'. The pump packed up on mine, aswell as havin no gas and a leaky pipe from the reciever tank to the core, and two inches of mud coatin the underslung cooler/condensor core and fans.

Is your system low on gas? If so the compressor won't start up to prevent damage.

Cheers People, I'll check that out.
I reckon the systems charged, when it did work before the funny noise behind the dash the pipes were really cold, as they should be.

          Thanks.

When mine started leaking, ie) got low on gas the light in the button started flashing instead of staying on, so if the lights flashing it's probably low on gas.

The compressor on a 2.4 is at the front left hand side of the engine bay, it's the top thing driven by a belt, the pulley turns constantly, but when a/c is turned on the clutch should engage and the centre should turn aswell.

The fuse/ relay can't remember which should be behind the glovebox, there's a lot of information/tech diagrams about this kind of stuff on the aussie site.

this kinda sounds like what you said -

            hope it helps
