  • 3rd Gen starting problem

The truck cut out while on an MOT but I managed to hot wire it & it appeared the ignition switch was faulty.

By disconnecting the plug to the ignition switch & linking the cables for the fuel cut off & the starter motor it fired up & started.

Having got another ignition switch the problem is the same, I then thought it may be the inhibitor for the Auto box but having just checked the wiring diagrams (albeit for the KZN130) it would seem the inhibitor is after the ignition switch.

Anyone any ideas - it's driving me crazy & I want to put this one up for sale!!

Luckily it cut out after it got the MOT!

It sound like you're having the same problem as me. I've traced it back to the Starter motor solinoid contactors. they are worn and so only sometimes make contact and start the engine. the contactor rebuild kits are £10 from toyota
