  • good sound advice needed!!!

    just purchased a hi lux surf,excellent piece of kit,been standing for a while and getting started was abugger,2 batt flat,changed oil and filter,does anyone know of a mechanic in the reading area for timing belt renewal,also have all the dash board lights on,timing belt,brake batt etc.there is also an audible noise,any advice grateful as need to get this beast on the road.murfeey@hotmail.co.uk thanks

        Lights on dash point to an Alternator failure. You may need to have batteries tested (may ned new ones) and then when alternator is fixed they should charge ok.

          Start by check for a bad earth from the alternator,then changing the carbon brushes in the alternator,(fairly easy to do) if this works all the lights should go out except the timing belt warning light,If you know that the belt was changed recently and is ok then remove the tiny rubber bung from the dash pannel and with a small screwdriver push in the button to reset the belt warning light. If in doubt then as before get hold of TonyN cos he will fix it,just like Bob the builder Yes he can.
